Hi, thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Christian, I am a former engineer and now a writer of thoughts about personal, social and business topics.
Why did I start this blog? I have been a very technical person over the course of my life, thus I focused more on doing things such as career, cars, home maintenance and such. There was not much writing involved, my thoughts and things I had to say were buried in the administration of day to day life.
So, now there is this blog, a place to put those thoughts, with sections for comment and feedback too.
More about me in bullet point style. . .
- Grew up in upstate New York and attended college graduating with an electrical engineering degree.
- 20 year career in consulting engineering, designing electrical systems for buildings such as schools, office buildings and water/wastewater treatment plants.
- Married at 39 years of age.
- Left my job to move out of the box and be an entrepreneur, and run our own businesses.
- Now manage our investments and residential real estate company.
- I am inspired by other peoples stories, seeing successes, to write about and share my own thoughts and observations.
Why “Head to Heart” and what is that photo on the header?
The phrase head to heart came to me while I was up talking in front of a crowd, not just an ordinary crowd though, these were people who had shared much about themselves in a group environment and it was my turn. Being your basic introvert, talking and sharing about myself in front a crowd was something that always struck fear in me, and I avoided at all costs. But it was my turn to go and as I was sharing a brief story, I felt something move from my head to my heart, and at that moment I was relaxed in myself and in the sharing I was doing with my new friends. Thus the idea of using that theme for this blog came to me.
The photo in my header is Mt. Vesuvius in Italy, yes the one that exploded and buried Pompeii, we had a tour of this Roman city and it was truly amazing to see what still remains and imagine what life was like there. I took the photo myself as our cruise ship was heading off to another destination in the Mediterranean. Why did I choose that picture? I chose it because it is a nice landscape, but it embodies the randomness of the world, how something can change and affect the direction of life at any moment. The effects that the world has on us are what I plan to explore in writing here. I thank you for visiting to join me on this journey!
